Glazing and Firing

The recommended glaze firing temperature range is 1000 to 1040˚C for all our bisque items.

For ornamental items a minimum of 1000 to 1020˚C with a 30 minute soak is just adequate. We recommend firing to the tableware temperature for all items.

For tableware items to be used for eating 1020 to 1040˚C with a 50 minute soak is recommended. Improved craze and chip resistance.

Target is 1380grams per litre (1000ml). You may use say a 1/2 litre (500ml) measuring cylinder for a reading of 690grams. Recorded weight less than target - to much water has been added to your glaze. Try to remove water from the surface of the glaze after it has been sitting for a few days.
