Bullers Rings (each)
Priced per ring.
Are you getting a poor finish on your glaze surface - orange peel? Frosting over dark colours. Trapped bubbles inside the glaze. Crawling and bare areas on the items? Crazing or glaze cracking?
Solve this by testing your kilns heat work being performed during the glaze firing.
The best way to test your kilns firing temperature is using the UK industry standard Bullers Rings.
These rings will indicate how much heat work has been performed on your ceramic items.
Essential to improve glaze performance for tableware items that will be used for food and drink.
The target is a good firing, this is Bullers ring measurement 14 (61.80mm) to 18 (61.20mm). This measurement can be performed with a Vernier Calliper or sent back to Bisque Direct for measuring.
The required heat work is achieved by firing your kiln between 1030 to 1060 Deg C (Tested in Top Loading up to 300 litre kilns) with a reasonable hold (soak) at the top temperature of 30 minutes or more. Each kiln and its controller settings will vary to achieve the same heat work.
To use place these rings on the middle shelf positioned 1/2 way between the edge and centre of the shelf.
Before firing these Bullers rings are very fragile. They are raw clay. After firing they are bisque fired. You are welcome to post them back to Bisque Direct to be measured.
